Alfred Edye  MANNING FOSTER

 Alfred Edye Manning Foster (1874 - 25 agosto 1939) è stato uno delle figure più rappresentative del bridge britannico nell'anteguerra.

 Londinese, educato alla University College School, fondatore e per i primi anni anche editore di Bridge Magazine, corrispondente per il bridge del Times e contributore di Bridge World, è stato anche fondatore e presidente della British Bridge League nel 1931.

 Nel 1928 sposò Dina Curtis.

 Scrittore prolifico e versatile, giornalista rinomato, fu fortemente avverso alle convenzioni artificiali e preferiva la partita libera al bridge duplicato.

 Per lungo tempo fu il selezionatore della squadra inglese che avrebbe partecipato alla Gold Cup.

 Londoner, educated at University College School, founder and for the first years also editor of Bridge Magazine, correspondent for Times for the Bridge and contributor of Bridge World, was also founder and chairman of the British Bridge League (1931).

In 1928 he married Dina Curtis.

Prolific and versatile writer, renowned journalist, was strongly opposed to artificial conventions and preferred the rubber bridge at duplicate bridge.

For a long time it was the English team selector who would take part in the Gold Cup.
