LeRoy Gutowsky detto "Ace", di origini polacche nacque in Russia a Komolty il 2 agosto del 1909 e scomparve il 4 dicembre del 1976 a Kingfisher una cittadina dell'omonima contea nello stato di Oklahoma.

Dopo aver giocato a livello giovanile nell'Oklahoma College, disputò come Running Back oltre 900 incontri nella National Football League giocando agli esordi per due anni nei Portsmouth Spartans, poi per 5 anni nei Detroit Lions e terminando la carriera nei Brooklyn Dodgers.

Fu un personaggio abbastanza noto nel bridge nazionale americano arrivando a vincere il Mitchell del 1951.
