Giles  FOSTER

 

 Giles Foster è nato nel 1940 a Maidstone nel Kent ed è cresciuto con l'amore per la musica suonando sia il pianoforte che il violoncello.

 Si è trasferito a Leeds verso la fine degli anni '50 per frequentare la locale università dove si è laureato in matematica ed è stato in quel periodo che ha conosciuto il bridge.

 Insegnante di matematica per oltre trenta anni, è cresciuto sotto la guida di Rita Oldroyd ed  è divenuto uno dei giocatori più noti dell'intero Yorkshire avendo vinto una gran numero di titoli nel circuito britannico.

 Sposato con Sheila, che ha iniziato a fare i primi passi nel mondo del bridge poco prima della scomparsa di Giles avvenuta il 23 febbraio del 2015 nell'ospedale di Bradford dopo un lungo periodo di degenza.

  Giles Foster was born in Maidstone in Kent in 1940 and grew up with a love for music playing both the piano and the cello.

He moved to Leeds in the late '50s to attend the local university where he graduated in mathematics and was in that period that he met the bridge.

A mathematics teacher for over thirty years, he grew up under the guidance of Rita Oldroyd and became one of Yorkshire's best-known bridge players having won a large number of titles on the British circuit.

Married to Sheila, who started taking the first steps in the bridge world shortly before Giles passed away on February 23rd 2015 at the Bradford hospital after a long period of hospitalization.
