Eberhard  FABER

 

 Eberhard Faber è nato il 14 marzo del 1859 a New York ed è stato il proprietario della fabbrica di matite famosa in tutto il mondo fondata dal padre John Eberhard Faber nel 1861.

 Terzo di sei figli che i suoi genitori entrambi di origine tedesca ebbero, Eberhard fu un appassionato e valente giocatore di Whist che fu Presidente della Lega.

 Passato al Contract Bridge, divenne Membro Onorario dell'American Bridge League nel 1930. La sua fabbrica donò tutte le matite che vennero usate nei Campionati Americani in quegli anni.

 Scomparve il 17 maggio del 1946 nella città in cui era nato.

  Eberhard Faber (1859-1946) was the son of pencil-manufacturing giant John Eberhard Faber.

 He was an expert card player who took up each successive development of the game from whist to contract. He served as the president of the American Whist League and was named as the American Bridge League Honorary Member in 1930.

Faber donated the American Whist League Faber Challenge Trophy in 1927 which remained in play until 1952. More significantly, in the early days of ACBL, Faber donated every pencil that was used in tournaments until the League was financially stable.
