Con il passare delle edizioni la WBF ha ritenuto distinguere i giovani in pił categorie fino ad arrivare alle 5 che sono in vigore dal 2020
Per le 3 categorie: Under 26 Open, Under Women 26, Under 21 Open sono designate le squadre meglio classificate nei rispettivi Campionati Zonali pił una squadra riservata per la nazione ospitante
Per le categorie Under 16 Open e Under 31 Open i campionati sono ad inviti
The World Youth Team Championships are held every two years (now in the even numbered years).
They comprise 3 Championships for which the Zonal Youth Teams Championships act as qualifying events and an invitation event for U-16 open teams as well as an invitation event for U-31 open teams, introduced in 2020
TheWorld U-31 Teams Championship, introduced in 2020, and this championship is also by invitation.
It is for players who must not have achieved their 30th birthday by 31st December of the year prior to the year in which the competition is to take place.
