Si tratta di una particolare  forma di Compressione Singola capace di superare un problema di blocchi costringendo l'avversario preso di mira a liberarsi della tenuta in un colore.

Prende il nome dal fatto che per portare a termine il colpo  si deve far a meno di una carta vincente che costituisce la zavorra del colpo.

Sud inizia a riscuotere l'Asso di fiori (carta comprimente) ed Ovest è cotto:

    - se scarta una cuori, il giocante si libera dell'Asso di cuori al morto e riscuote le due cuori della mano

    - se scarta il Re di quadri, il giocante si libera di una quadri e si trasferisce al morto a cuori per riscuote la Dama di quadri

A squeeze where there is a blockage in an entry, but the squeeze card permits you to "jettison" the blocking card and take the remaining tricks. 

For example, playing in NT:

South leads the §Ace.  If West discard a Heart the ©Ace is "Jettisoned" from dummy and the ©K2 take the last 2 tricks.  If West discards a diamond, the ¨2 is discarded from dummy, and dummy is good.

However, when South leads the Ace of Clubs, the opponents holding the fourth Spade or guarding the Spade suit is compelled to unguarded the Spade suit in order to hold onto his Ace of Hearts or Ace of Diamonds.

If West started with 4 Spades, the squeeze is on West. Alternatively, (key word), if East started with 4 Spades, then the squeeze is on East.
