Si tratta di una particolare forma di compressione che è finalizzata non a far scartare un controllo per liberare una minaccia bensì a conteggiare completamente un colore al fine di poterlo poi manovrare al meglio.
Sud che è di mano, ha già appurato in precedenza che Ovest detiene la Dama di cuori e che fino a quel momento sono uscite sette carte di picche:

Ovest tira la pseudo carta comprimente (il Dieci di fiori) ed Ovest che non si può liberare della Dama di cuori per non affrancare il Fante del morto, scarta una picche, mentre, il morto si libera dell'ormai inutile Fante di cuori ed Est di una piccola fiori. A questo punto, le carte di picche superstiti sono 5.
Quando Sud esca con la sua ultima picche verso la forcella del morto e vede Ovest rispondere, può passare in tutta tranquillità la Dama perché, avendo Ovest la Dama di cuori, Est è certamente rimasto con il Fante secco.
A Count
Squeeze is an action in the play of the cards that operates on a player,
usually the declarer, who does not guard a crucial suit in such a manner as
to give the declarer a count of the suit. This action allows the player to
drop an honor offside instead of taking a losing finesse.

During the play, South, the declarer, has discovered that West has the Queen of Hearts
South leads the Ten of Clubs. West discards a Spade. South can now safely discard the Jack of Hearts from the dummy.
South now leads the Spades. West discards his last Spade.
After counting the number of Spade cards played, South has the information that East holds the last Spade card.
South plays the Queen of Spades from the dummy, knowing that the last card of West is the Ace of Hearts. East loses the Jack of Spades, making the Ten of Spades in the dummy the winning trick.
