La convenzione 31 o 5431viene usata in risposta all'apertura di 1SA forte quando si dispone di una bicolore minore 5.4 (eccezionalmente 5.5) con i resti nobili 3-1.
Consiste nel nominare al livello di tre il tripleton della mano (o, a scelta, il singolo):
