Kliment Efremovic VOROSILOV

Kliment Voroshilov was born in Verchnee 4 February 1881 and was a Russian soldier who has distinguished himself in all campaigns by the Russian Civil War until World War II.

Married to Ekaterina Voroshilova, born Golda Gorbman, they adopted a 4 year old boy named Peyta and later the sons of Mikhail Frunze.

From 1925 to 1940 he was the defense minister of the former USSR. From 1953 to 1960 Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union.

He received two decorations of the order of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Order of Hero of Socialist Labor. He was the member of the Politburo of the CPSU more durable, holding the position for 34 consecutive years (1926-1960).

After the death of Frunze, Vorošylov was appointed Minister of the USSR war. He had been a supporter of Stalin during the fight with Leon Trotsky.

He is the author of the book Stalin and the Red Army, published in the twenties, in which is praised the role of Stalin during the Russian Civil War.

In 1940, following the Finnish-Soviet war, Vorošylov was dismissed from the role of Minister of War and replaced by Tymoshenko. He served successively as Deputy Prime Minister of the USSR and Chairman of the Defense Committee of the USSR.

In his honor the Voroshilov name was assigned to a cruiser class Kirov and, always with his name, it was renamed Vorosilovgrad the Ukrainian city of Lugansk.

Voroshilov is often delighted with the bridge, and it seems to have taught the rudiments of the game at the same Stalin that he was intrigued.

He disappeared in Moscow on December 2, 1969.
