Minnie Tananbaum è nata a New York il 10 maggio del 1949, ha studiato presso la Williston Northampton di Hampton, poi presso la Great Neck North High School, ed infine, si è laureata in scienze politiche presso l'Università del Wisconsin a Madison.
Ha vissuto per un certo periodo a Roma in Italia e poi si è trasferita a Neuilly-sur-Seine dove ha lavorato presso la Evergreen Capital.
Sposata e divorziata due volte ha avuto una figlia Ellen.
Poliglotta, parlava correntemente inglese, italiano e francese ed è stata un'ottima bridgista molto nota a livello internazionale.
Dopo una lunga malattia combattuta con coraggio e determinazione si è spenta a Neuilly-sur-Seine l'11 ottobre del 2018.
