Perlita Sultan è nata il 21 novembre del 1949 a Caracas e dopo aver vissuto a lungo a Huston dove si è trasferita nel 1970, oggi risiede ad Aventura in Florida.
Perla ha studiato presso la St. George School di Caracas e si è laureata in psicologia e scienza della nutrizione presso il South Texas Junior College.
Divorziata, ha avuto due figli Natalie e Tammy e parla correntemente 4 lingue.
Dopo aver lavorato per la Creole Petroleum Corporation, ha lavorato come interprete presso il St. Luke Episcopal Hospital e si è poi laureata in medicina presso la Università Centrale del Venezuela.
Ha fatto parte molte volte di quasi tutte le nazionali venezuelane e per 6 anni è stata membro del WBF Women's Committee.
