Donald Sondergeld è nato il 13 novembre del 1930 a Toledo in Ohio ed è stato un attuario di grido ritiratosi nel 1991 diventando Presidente della Società degli Attuari l'anno successivo. Dopo aver studiato matematica presso la Bowling Green State University e presso la University of Michigan, ha lavorato presso l'Hartford Insurance Group per poi divenire Vice Presidente della Mutual Benefit di Newark.

Mary nacque l'11 giugno del 1934 a Waterville nel Maine ed è stata una logopedista laureata all'università del Michigan che ha interrotto l'attività professionale solo nel periodo in cui ha cresciuto i suoi 5 figli ed è stata attiva anche nella politica locale della città di Hartford dove ha vissuto fin quando il marito non è stato trasferito a Upper Montclair nel New Jersey.

Dopo il pensionamento di Don, la coppia si è trasferita ad Hubbardton nel Vermont nel periodo invernale e a Naples in Florida in quello estivo ed ha dedicato gran parte del proprio tempo libero per viaggiare in tutto il mondo.

Entrambi hanno coltivato a lungo al livello amatoriale sia il golf, che lo sci, che il tennis, che il bridge.

Donald Sondergeld was born on November 13, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio and was a leading actuary who retired in 1991 and became President of the Society of Actuaries the following year. After studying mathematics at Bowling Green State University and the University of Michigan, he worked at Hartford Insurance Group and later became Vice President of Newark Mutual Benefit.

Mary was born on June 11, 1934 in Waterville, Maine and was a University of Michigan graduate speech therapist who stopped working only while raising her 5 children and was also active in the local politics of the University of Michigan. Hartford city where she lived until her husband was moved to Upper Montclair in New Jersey.

Don and Mary married in 1957.

After Don's retirement, the couple moved to Hubbardton in Vermont in the winter and to Naples in Florida in the summer and spent much of their free time traveling around the world.

Both have long cultivated both golf, skiing, tennis and bridge at the amateur level.

Don is an ACBL Life Master.

Mary passed away on January 24, 2019.
