Derek  RUE

 Derek Rue è nato nel 1934 nell'Irlanda del Nord ma ha studiato a Worcester prima di stabilirsi a Cheltenham appena diciannovenne dove  divenne una figura molto nota del bridge anglosassone.

 Sposato con Pin, formavano una coppia tanto gentile quanto difficile da affrontare al tavolo verde.

 Funzionario dell'agenzia governativa che si occupa di sicurezza, spionaggio e controspionaggio, si ritirò con il grado di Direttore nel 1994.

 Grande appassionato di musica, di tennis, di cricket e di golf, oltre che di bridge, Derek fu uno dei fondatori del Cheltenham Bridge Club e ha ricoperto nel corso della sua vita bridgistica diverse cariche amministrative ad ogni livello.

 Vincitore di molti titoli regionali, Derek ha colto il suo miglior risultato con la vittoria nel Tollemache nel 2007 e con la medaglia d'argento conquistata agli Europei a Coppie Senior del 2001.

Ha fatto anche parte della nazionale britannica senior che ha partecipato agli Europei e alle Olimpiadi del 2004.

Derek è scomparso il 10 luglio del 2018.

  Derek Rue was born in Northern Ireland in 1934 but studied in Worcester before settling in Cheltenham just nineteen years old where he became a well-known figure of the Anglo-Saxon bridge.

Married with Pin, they formed a pair as kind as difficult to deal with.

Officer of the government agency that deals with security, espionage and counterintelligence, he retired with the rank of Director in 1994.

A great lover of music, tennis, cricket and golf, as well as bridge, Derek was one of the founders of the Cheltenham Bridge Club and has held various administrative positions at every level during his life.

Winner of many regional titles, Derek captured his best results with the victory in the Tollemache in 2007 and with the silver medal won at the European Senior Pairs Championships in 2001.

He was also part of the senior British national team that participated in 2004 at the Europeans and the Olympiads.

Derek disappeared on 10 July 2018.
