Bill  O'CONNELL

William Joseph Leo O'Connell, nacque a Cork in Irlanda nel 1892, studiò ingegneria all'Università locale e sposò la coetanea concittadina Francine.

Nel 1935 cofondò un studio di ingegneria che divenne famoso quando 10 anni più tardi vinse la gara per la costruzione del ponte sul fiume Stanley di Wexford.

Lui, la moglie e due dei loro figli Barry e Michael, sono stai tutti campioni di bridge a livello internazionale.

Giocando in coppia con il figlio Barry nel 1946 si levò la soddisfazione di battere la squadra inglese nel Camrose.

Scomparve il 6 febbraio del 1966 nella sua casa di Elmina sulla penisola di Howth.

In 1935 he co-founded an engineering firm which became famous when 10 years later he won the tender to build Wexford's Stanley River Bridge.

He, his wife and two of their sons Barry and Michael have all been international bridge champions.

Playing paired his son Barry in 1946 he had the satisfaction of beating the English team in Camrose.

She disappeared on February 6, 1966 at her home in Elmina on the Howth Peninsula.
