 Jim Linhart nacque nel 1936 a New York ed è stato uno dei più vincenti giocatori del circuito nord americano.

 Cresciuto a New York si era poi trasferito in Florida e viveva a Raleigh in North Carolina quando scomparve il 5 gennaio del 2009 a seguito di un attacco cardiaco capitatogli mentre disputava i NABC New Year Regional a Charleston.

 Aveva vinto due soli NABC ma aveva collezionato tanti piazzamenti da entrare nella classifica dei 100 Grand Life Master con più MP.

Linhart, was stricken during the MABC New Year's Regional in Charleston. He was 72.

Formerly of New York City and Florida, Linhart was living in Raleigh NC at the time of his death.

He was a member of the winning squad in the 1975 Mixed Board-a-Match Teams, playing with Helen Utegaard, Nancy Gruver and Gerald Caravelli.

He was on the runner-up squad in the Senior Knockout Teams in 1997.

He had nearly 21,000 masterpoints and he is one of 100 Lifetime Top 100 MP Holders.
