  Di origini russo/lituane, Sydney Lee è nato nel 1911 a Whitechapel una località non lontana da Londra.

 Laureato in medicina ha esercitato la professione presso il Westminster Hospital e poco dopo presso uno studio che aprì assieme alla moglie Ester, anch'essa laureata in medicina, a Stratford dove rimase per circa 60 anni.

 Eccellente diagnostico, dedicò per tutta la vita la sua opera alla gente povera per piccoli compensi ed ha assistito alcuni dei più grandi giocatori inglesi di quel tempo.

 Bridgista di livello internazionale ha partecipato agli Europei del 1965 ed ha vinto 5 volte sia il Camrose che la Golden Cup, 2 volte il Crockfords e 4 volte sia l'Hubert Phillips che la Tollemache.

 Scomparve nel giugno del 1999.

 

  Of Russian / Lithuanian origins, Sydney Lee was born in 1911 in Whitechapel, a town not far from London.

A medical graduate, he practiced his profession at Westminster Hospital and shortly thereafter at a Stratford studio he opened with his wife Ester, also a medical graduate, where he remained for about 60 years.

An excellent diagnostician, he dedicated his work to poor people throughout his life for small wages and assisted some of the greatest English players of that time.

Bridge player of international level he participated in the European Championships of 1965 and won 5 times both the Camrose and the Golden Cup, 2 times the Crockfords and 4 times both the Hubert Phillips and the Tollemache.

He disappeared in June 1999.
