 Brenda  JONES

 

 Brenda Jones è nata a Hobart nel 1909 ed è stata una forza trainante del bridge in Tasmania per oltre 4 decenni.

 Quando studiava con ottimi risultati all'Hobart Ladies College Brenda si interessava molto al tennis e meno al bridge. Fu campionessa della racchetta e partecipò ad alcune gare con la nazionale Tasmana.

 Poi quando il bridge la prese, sostituì il tennis con il golf dove ugualmente ottenne ottimi risultati.

 Sposatasi con Douglas Jones, figlio di un industriale self made man e, forse, a quel tempo, l'uomo più ricco di Tasmania, ebbe tre figli maschi.

 Ottima giocatrice è stata capitana della nazionale tasmana e per oltre 30 anni ha impersonato il bridge dell'isola ricoprendo cariche amministrative al più alto livello fino a divenite consigliere dell'ABF.

Negli '70 divenne il primo scrittore di bridge della Tasmania pubblicando una rubrica sul Saturday Evening Mercury nella quale i primi diagrammi erano riportati a mano!

Brenda ha continuato a insegnare bridge fino all'età di 80 anni e a giocare fino al momento della sua morte avvenuta nel 2001.

  Brenda Jones was born in Hobart in 1909 and has been a driving force of bridge in Tasmania for over 4 decades.

When she was studying with excellent results at Hobart Ladies College, she was very interested in tennis and less in bridge.

She was the local champion of tennis and she participated in some competitions with the Tasman national team.

Then when bridge took her, she replaced tennis with golf where she also achieved excellent results.

She married Douglas Jones, the son of a self-made industrialist and perhaps the richest man in Tasmania at the time, she had three sons.

She is an excellent player, she was captain of the Tasmanian national team and for over 30 years she impersonated the island's bridge, holding administrative positions at the highest level until she became a advisor of the ABF.

In the 1970s you became Tasmania's first bridge writer by publishing a column on the Saturday Evening Mercury in which the first diagrams were drawn by hand!

Brenda continued teaching bridge until she was 80 and playing until her death in 2001.
