Hiske Gerbrandy è nata l'8 novembre del 1952 ad Amsterdam dove oggi vive dopo essersi trasferita a Rotterdam per un certo periodo.
Nella capitale olandese ha frequentato il ginnasio Marnix prima di laurearsi presso la VU University.
Ha avuto una lunga e fortunata carriera professionale che è iniziata presso laElsevier di cui divenne direttore del personale ed ancora oggi ricopre l'incarico di tesoriere presso una Fondazione che ha il compito di combattere la sindrome di Usher.
Amante del bridge in passato si è fregiata della medaglia d'argento ai Campionati Europei a Coppie Miste del 1992.
