Nato nel 1983 ad Hamar, una cittadina norvegese circa 130 Km a Nord di Oslo famosa per aver ospitato i giochi olimpici invernali, l'altissimo Petter che vive a Trondheim e che ha appena finito gli studi liceali si è iscritto alla Sor Trondelag University e ha iniziato a giocare al livello internazionale giovanile in coppia con Espen Lindqvist.

 Assieme al più celebre partner ha vinto l'argento nel 2000 e il bronzo nel 2002 nei Campionati Juniores Under 20, il bronzo nel 2004 ai Campionati Mondiali School Teams e alle Olimpiadi di Pechino nel Mondiale a Squadre Under 26.

  Petter is a member of a large Norwegian family that is likely to follow in the footsteps of the most famous French brothers Bessis.
