Cathy  CHUA

 Cathy Chua è nata nel 1959 ad Adelaide e si è laureata in storia e politica presso l'Università di Adelaide nel 1982 vincendo il Tinline Prize per la storia.

 Ha giocato sia a scacchi per le squadre australiane partecipando a due Olimpiadi ed è stata la prima donna che nel 1977 ha vinto un campionato giovanile australiano.

 Anche suo fratello Chris De Pasquale ha fatto altrettanto.

 Nel bridge ha vinto diversi campionati australiani interstatali e nazionali facendo anche parte in un paio di occasioni della nazionale femminile ma rammaricandosi di non essere riuscita a far parte della squadra open.

 Per alcuni si è mantenuta come giocatrice professionista di partita libera ed è anche una scrittrice.

 Ha scritti diversi libri tra i quali ricordiamo una storia del bridge australiano ed ha collaborato con diverse testate bridgistiche.

 Trasferitasi a Ginevra in Svizzera ha rallentato di molto l'attività agonistica.

   Cathy Chua was born in Adelaide in 1959 and graduated in history and politics from the University of Adelaide in 1982 by winning the Tinline Prize for history.

She played both chess for Australian teams by participating in two Olympics and was the first woman to win an Australian youth championship in 1977.

His brother Chris De Pasquale also did the same.

In bridge she won several Australian interstate and national championships, also being part of the women's national team on a couple of occasions but regretting not being able to be part of the open team.

For some, she remained as a professional free game player and is also a writer.

She has written several books among which we remember a history of Australian bridge and has collaborated with various bridge newspapers.

Relocating to Geneva in Switzerland, she slowed down the competitive activity a lot.
