William E. Adams è nato il 17 ottobre del 1917 ed ha avuto una lunga carriera sia come giocatore, che come amministratore e direttore di torneo.
Attivo nei principali club del Connecticut dove viveva a North Branford, è stato Presidente della Connecticut Bridge Association per oltre un quarto di secolo.
William che aveva appreso i primi rudimenti del gioco tra le mura della sua casa, ne perfezionò la conoscenza durante il periodo passato alla Yale University che si concluse con la laurea in ingegneria.
Partecipò alla seconda guerra mondiale e lavorò per la Società delle Autostrade del suo Stato, per quella Ferroviaria e per la Vogt Aircraft.
Passò l'intera vita con la moglie Vicky.
ACBL Gold Life Master conseguì il suo massimo risultato agonistico con la vittoria nel Senior Master Individual del 1953.

Tournament Director.

William who had learned the rudiments of the game within the walls of his house, he perfected the knowledge during his tenure at Yale University that ended with an engineering degree.
He participated in the Second World War and worked for the Company of Motorways of his state, for that train and the Vogt Aircraft. He spent his entire life with his wife Vicky.
ACBL Gold Life Master, he attained its greatest competitive results with the victory in the Senior Individual Master of 1953.
William died on 16 February 2008.
