La IMSA
International Mind Sports Association ha organizzato per diversi anni
i Campionati Mondiali dei Giochi della Mente dando loro il nome di Mind
Sports Olympiad (vedi IMSA - ante 2008)
Di alcune edizioni dei Giochi ha fatto parte anche il Bridge con gare sempre diverse e spesso transnazionali.
Dal 2008 nei Giochi IMSA sono confluite una serie di gare bridgistiche tra cui le Olimpiadi di Bridge che la World Bridge Federation organizzava fin dal 1960.
Le nuove Olimpiadi degli Sport della Mente si sono tenute per la prima volta nel 2008 e comprendono: Bridge, Scacchi, Dama e Go.
In futuro esse si svolgeranno ogni 4 anni negli anni bisestili e comprenderanno un gara riservata a Squadre Nazionali ai giocatori Under 28.
The World Mind Sports
Games (WMSG) were held for the first time in 2008, comprising bridge,
chess, draughts, go and xiangqi (chinese chess). In the future, they are
to be held on every leap year.
To support WMSG, which are considered as the stepping stone on the path of introducing a third kind of Olympic Games (after the Summer and the Winter Olympics), the WBF incorporated the World Team Olympiad in the WMSG, and added several youth competitions.
All bridge compeitions played within or in conjunction with WMSG are called World Bridge Games.
In them will be part of a competition reserved for players Under-28 National Teams
